THE DIET - Steak Day


During the stabilization phase a slight rise of weight is natural. Dr. Simeons’, in his “Pounds and Inches” has mentioned about the ‘Steak Day’ to deal with the sudden weight gain during phase 3 . It is recommended that the dieter weighs him or herself everyday in the morning and if there is a gain of more than two pounds over the weight of his last maintenance day, he or she should immediately go for some weight correction. ‘Steak day’ is an effective technique for such purpose.



During the steak day, the dieter has to fast for the whole day. In other words, the dieter has to skip breakfast and lunch. For dinner, the dieter eats a large steak cooked in oil or butter with an apple or a raw tomato. The dieter is advised to drink plenty of water and other fluids during the day.  





The preparation of the steak is not very tough. Take care that the steak used is fresh enough. The whole process of preparation is discussed below.

  • Trim the steak cautiously, leaving only a small rim of white fat around the outer side. Put the steaks in a baking pan.
  • Collect all the ingredients: black peppercorns, kosher salt, 1/2 cup of marsala wine per steak, horseradish, 3 whole garlic cloves per steak and red wine vinegar.
  • Crush 1 teaspoon of peppercorns, 1 tablespoon of kosher salt and 3 garlic cloves together for each steak using a mortar and pestle.
  • Apply the pepper, salt and garlic mixture properly into each steak. Apply this on both sides of the steak and on the edges also. Place the steaks again into the baking pan.
  • Mix oil or butter properly with the steaks.
  • Spray the oil/butter to the baking pan and cover it with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
  • Turn up the grill to high temperature and let it heat for at least 15 minutes. The grates would be extremely hot and any grease or leftover food should be ash. Apply a grill brush and brush away the grate to remove any food or grease.
  • When everything is ready, place the steaks on the center of the hot grill by a grill fork; turn the grill down to medium.
  • Keep the top closed for 12 minutes. Do not open the top, move the steak or baste with anything.
  • After 12 minutes, open the top and turn the steak over placing it on a different place on the grill than where it was. Let it cool. 


During the second phase of the diet plan, the dieter continuously loses weight. However when the dieter steps into the third phase, he or she gains some weight as soon as he stops the 500 calorie diet. In case the gain crosses 2 pounds, the dieter should go for “steak day” that day itself. Within 24 hours, a remarkable drop in the weight can be observed.
